has anyone ever bought from AmazonWireless?

Well, I am activating a new plan on Verizon. They have a good deal going on, buy a droid 2, get one free. Total cost for the phones will be $150.
I was looking around the web for other deals and AmazonWireless has the Droid 2 for $0.01 and a Droid X for $49.99. WHY IS IT SO CHEAPPP? I read that they might charge me $35 to activate each line, but are there any catches? Anyone ever buy from there?

I really don't think so - I personally think that amazon is the place where many people offer deals because it similar to ebay many people could actually undercut your price. Second it is the holidays so you will find some crazy cheap phones out there. If you take a look at tigerdirect.com they have phones for .01 dollars too. The plan activation thing is the big thing. I also do not think that they should charge you any activation fees because you are new customer and you chose them over the competition its kid of a welcome gift. I never have paid an activation fee when I started a plan with a new company. Take this as advice tho if there is something that smells fishy on the site just run like the wind.
 
To be honest, at that price, I don't even mind paying an activation fee lol.But if it's supposed to be free, then it better be free!lol.

I'm tempted to go through with it but I just want to hear some experiences and such with AmazonWireless. Is tigerdirect a legit site?

They are definitely legit. Part of the deal is to drive business to their new wireless store and part to get hooked into the carrier's distribution network like Best Buy and Radio Shack. The catch is they cannot grandfather any plans if you are already a customer. You have to select a current plan option.
 
Actually they can if they want to, it is in their best interest to up-sell you a more expensive plan. That is how they make money, I am sure they get a percentage of the plans they sell and you are required to stay for 6 months at those plan levels.

In my case, At&t actually allowed me to keep my grandfathered blackberry unlimited plan over the $15/month 200M plan I signed up for with Amazon.

Now I am on the other end of the deal and looking to see if anyone has returned a device within 30 days and how did that go?

I returned my X10 after 29 days, over the phone they gave me no grief, emailed me a return label for UPS within 5 minutes. It should be delieved to Amazon in Kentucky tomorrow. I really want to know how long it will take for them to process it and tell At&t to reset my contract so I can go get my Dell Streak at Best Buy :D

It would be great if it happened before Christmas, but I am not holding out much hope. I figured returns are low this week, but next week will be a nightmare, so I hope they will process it before Christmas or it may not happen until after the first of the year.

If that is the case, I might have to wait until after CES 2011 :rolleyes:
