Help has anyone successfully rooted this phone?

Moto G XT1028 ( Verizon

I've read all about how moto would not provide bootloader unlock codes for the CDMA variant of this phone and yada yada. I even went through the trouble to install Android SDK tools on my laptop, boot into fastboot and did " fastboot OEM get_unlock_data. Typed that in @ Motorola only to be told my bootloader cannot be unlocked.

Is there any way to do this?
Has any ever rooted the Verizon wireless Moto G?

If it has 4.4.2 then yes it can be rooted.
Most Moto G devices updated and have 4.4.4 if it has 4.4.4 then there is no root method that I'm aware of.

I rooted my Moto G on 4.4.2 the bootloader unlock can be done via Sunshine bootloader unlock tool if it has 4.4.2

Hope this answers your question.

?? Are you serious?

I found this:
http://www.ibtimes.co.uk/how-root-moto-x-moto-g-1st-2nd-gen-models-android-5-0-lollipop-1474981

Claims CF Auto root to work with the Moto G, BUT says only for lollipop.
Wonder what it would do if I tried with KitKat?

That makes me sick man.
Verizon and their lockdown of our devices. I paid money out of my pocket for this phone. It belongs to me. How dare they tell me I have to cripple myself and my operating system by abiding by their BS.

Unfortunately yes I'm serious. As you said the bootloader is locked.

I retired as lead tech for a website. Rooting, unrooting, unbricking, and installing roms.
If your trying to WiFi tether, Airdroid works.

I actually got WiFi tethering to work by some miracle. The last phone I had ( a Samsung ) I had previously rooted and gotten the default Android tethering to work. I guess once I tricked the network into thinking I had tethering, it carried over to the new phone :)
