Accessories Has anyone tried DeX?

Accept no imitations!
I bought a USB-C to HDMI cable on Amazon to use for the DeX function with my 4K monitor (yes, it's nice).

Upon plugging it in, I got DeX to come up: and I had to swipe down the notification shade and select "Use Phone as Trackpad" to get it to work.

Maybe it's my adapter, but I found it very slow, clunky and difficult. I opened the file explorer, but had a hard time trying to grab the bar to scroll down through the files and folders. I gave up pretty fast.

Is it just me? Maybe I have too much open for DeX to work right? Or is everyone else having this issue?

*shrugs* perhaps its your setup.

ive the dex pad, a hdmi 2.0b latest spec cable (under 10 feet) and a wireless keyboard to use with the system.

ive had zero lag in the applications ive used and no clunky user experience. it was like 2-3 seconds to boot up into dex and go.

i did use it with JUST a usb c to hdmi cable to check out dex before my pad showed up and even that was just fine.

Thanks, I'll try it again...

I have used a TRIPP-LITE USB-C to HDMI adapter, the Dex pad, and the Dex station from my Note 8. The pad and station had zero issues and no lag. I run into issues with the TRIPP-LITE USB-C to HDMI adapter, the picture was horrible and very laggy, what is odd is that it works great with my Dell laptop, so who knows. I also find using HDMI to VGA or DVi adapters result in a bad experience as well. Since I still have my Dex station, I haven't purchased any other adapters or cables, so I'm interested in which ones work for others here.

I just ordered and received the "DONWELL Type C Cable USB C to HDMI Adapter USB-C to HDTV for Note 9" from Amazon. It was only $13 so I wanted to give it a try. As far as function goes, it has been working great all day. No delay and Dex comes on immediately. The only negative is that it gets very hot on the HDMI plug end after only a few minutes. Has anyone else noticed the HDMI part of their adapter getting very hot? I am curious if this is normal (heat from converting the video) or if this unit may be defective?
