Have I broken my box

Hello all,

I am not sure if anyone can help but I thought it was probably worth a try? I have just bought a geniatech ATX 2000 smart TV set box. It shipped with Android 2.2.5. Anyway, got the thing home and set it up. Everything was working fine. Then I came onto these forums and looked for advice to update the firmware. Copied the relevant files onto a SD card and put into SD card reader (unzipped). It began to read card okay. I then had a rush of blood and was not concentrating properly. I ended up taking the card out of the slot before the update was finished. Realised what I had done and then inserted it again. Now whenever I turn the machine on it says something like

"cannot mount sdcard\update.img"
"cannot mount vdisk\update.img"
"Update failed"

I have tried to reset the machine by unplugging machine and pressing button on the back. I have also tried a factory reset by clciking on one of the options on the boot screen. I have had no luck. It is my own fault really.

I suppose what I really need to know is is there a way of getting the default settings back? At the moment it will not even boot up. I turn it on and it goes straight to the updating failed page. Or have I fried my machine and wasted

first of all you need to upgrade the spi before installing the 2.3.4 firmware and you unziped the files no need to unzip only rename it to update.img
i think you didnt kill the box if shows this
cannot mount sdcard\update.img"
"cannot mount vdisk\update.img"
"Update failed"
here are some instructions from where you can download the filles, read careful or you may kill it

Thanks. I will give it a try when I get home. Pretty sure I did not unzip the file though. There was just the one file (with a zipped icon) I put onto the card. Problem is I cannot now get into the settings manager as it tells me the update has failed on the recovery screen. I will try formatting the SD card again before I put image.zip on it. Anyway will try again later and let you know how I get on.....

I have followed the instructions sent but no luck I am afraid. Whatever I do it does not seem to want to upload the update.img file. I am at a complete loss so if anyone else has had this problem help would really be appreciated. Otherwise it might make a good doorstop!

I have uploaded some screenshots of the error message.

Scratch all that. Seems to be working. Thank you. It was the hidden files extension. Thought I had done it correctly, It was not until I watched the you tube video that I realised I had not. Anyway, only took me about 7 hours!

Still at least I seem to be up and running now....

:)

Thank you.............
