Have never had such a phone...

I've decided to share my experience with my x10 with you.
I got the phone about half a year ago, and I have to say this is by far the worst phone I have ever owned.
The main problem in this phone is lags. I've used so many ROMs including CM7s, MIUIs and stock based, and I wasn't 100% satisfied with anyone. I've also tried scripts, tweaks, kernels, overclock and task killer programs as well. There were always the small and annoying lags, especially in games but also in some launchers.
It's important to clarify that I'm not jumping to conclusions after trying demanding games and heavy launchers that it's reasonable they won't run completely smooth. I have lags is games like Angry Birds, TurboFly3D and Fruit Ninja (just for example, there is more), and LauncherPro is a little bit laggy. Heavy games like Asphalt 6 work just horrible.
Another thing that disappointed me is the video camera. I had a Nokia N8 and his video camera was so much better, despite the same video resolution. I saw videos from other 720P phone's recorders like Galaxy S and iPhone 4 and there is a huge difference as well.
Besides, the touch screen is not so good - not enough sensitive and there is only dual touch. If we're talking about the screen, his quality is not very impressive.

There is some good stuff like the size of the screen and the still camera, but I was expecting for more from this device. I supposed to benefit from the phone and not spend so much time by trying to improve it and make it work like it should. If a 1GHZ phone has those small annoying lags in a 5MB game like TurboFly it's not okay and no doubt about it.
Really disappointed by the X10, I was expecting for much more.

You're not the only one. I've owned the handset for nearly 2 years now (I'm on my 3rd replacement due to overheating and microphone issues) and I've never had a phone as bad as this one. The performance is absolutely abysmal. I'm running the stock Vodafone UK 2.3.3 FW, I've rooted, removed bloatware, even uncapped the framerate and still the performance is absolutely unacceptable. I've tried (and paid for) all of the top name launchers in a bid to stop my homescreen icons having to redraw everytime I return back to the homescreen from browsing the web or reading a book via Kindle. None of them have helped.

I'm currently using the stock launcher and even that hasn't helped at all.

Most of the time I can't answer calls because the screen won't switch on quick enough. When I want to make a call (using the stock Dialer) I have to wait anything from 5 to 10 seconds for the damn thing to load - a phone that doesn't even really work as a phone! It's terrible!

My contract ends in August and I'm seriously considering either starting a new contract with another provider early in order to get a handset that works (the HTC One S has caught my eye), or just buy a SIM free handset (a Nokia 5110 would be better than the Xperia piece of s***) just to tied me over till my contract ends!

Believe me, Disappointed, I feel your pain!

I have had my phone for over 2 years and I am overall happy with it.

I have updated 3 friends phones, none of us have ever had to call or bring in the phone for any replacement or anything.

My friend with the most amount of problems, his problem is himself.

He loads way too many games and junk on his phone.

I have 1 or 2 crappy games and strictly use my phone for web, camera and texting and making phone calls.

I will probably never buy a Sony phone again due to their lack of support and updates....but nothing to do with the hardware itself.

I do understand the issues with stock rom. However I am now running the FXP cm7 with unlocked bootloader and FXP kernel from XDA Developers and have to say that the phone is blazing fast. No homescreen redraws using ADW launcher that is built into FXP cm7, can play most games with no lag. ALL in all I would have to say that the phone can hold its own against most phones that are out there today, and I still see no need to upgrade my phone after two years. (that is unless the Sammy III lives up to all the hype and rumours):)
