Have some more goodies

I love these strolls down tech memory lane. :) I'm wondering, though, what it means that some of them look like I just saw them yesterday. I swear it's like I just saw the magazine ads yesterday for some of those products. That's a sign of advanced age, right?

I had a Watchman rather than a Walkman.
I had both. I loved my Watchman...damn, that thing was really small and portable. I had it in my purse when we were at our daughter's high school graduation ceremony--because the Lakers were playing [in the playoffs] and I had to keep getting updated on the score. :D I did it very covertly, with no sound, so no one around me was even aware of it.

I had a Casio pocket TV, and not a Watchman and nor a Microvision, one very important reason...COLOUR!...AFAIK both the Sony and Sinclair pocket TVs only did black and white.

The original Watchman was black and white, but a later version was color. Or colour if you prefer. :) I had both, but I actually liked the older one better. As I recall, it was smaller.

WOW! I wrote code for those beasts when they were the latest and greatest things out. I could still bend over far enough to touch my knees back then.

I used to watch Stewart Cheifet and Computer Chronicles quite often (and drool).

I still have a 486 DX50 laptop with 5 - count 'em - 5 whole megabytes of RAM. Still runs Windows 3.11.

I kept the old AT case and had a early pentium in it. It shocked a few people each time I took it in for a part or update. It was rude.

Played Myst real well.

You mean so that we can all cry over our lost youths in one place. Easier to mop up all the tears with one mop.

It's what those kids who are too young to collect Social Security have.
I collect Social Security, but because of disability (brain tumor), not age. It does lead to some funny assumptions, though. Like a recent phone call from my Medicare supplement plan, Anthem Blue Cross. They routinely check to see if you're getting your preventive care, whatever, okay fine, so it was a normal conversation, and then she asked "have you talked to your primary care physician about incontinence?"

Re the 10 tech treats, I had the Casio calculator watch, and a (more expensive) Casio scientific calculator watch.

Did you tell her that you didn't have any until her call pissed you off? :)

I have a suplimental carrier (which, under the weird universe known as the insurance business, becomes my primary insurance). Every time they call, as soon as I recognize the pitch I just say "No, thank you" and hang up. If they'd at least use the same number every time, they'd automatically get the "Your number has been blocked from reaching the number you are calling [click]" message.
