Call verizon and ask to be put on the 1400 minute talk and text plus data promotion plan. It's $20 more to go from 700 minutes to 1400, but then they give you a $20 monthly discount, so it's a wash only you double your minutes and gain the 10 friends and family numbers, too. I just did it and only been with verizon for 6 weeks.

As of the middle of December, the Talk & Text Data Promo plan became a save option for Customer Care. This is much more likely to work if you get a direct center over an outsource center as this change has not been "pushed" to reps, only posted in the Infomanager Newscenter under CS News.
I was told (not that is is or is not true, I started with 1400) by vzw that I could switch back and forth to any amount and turn on/ off features free of charge by setting up a manager account online. the only thing Iv'e done so far though is buy the hotspot add on and no charge there except for service. This tool also lets you block calls, pay bill, turn included features on/off etc. as well. It takes playing around with to find out which button does what though.
