Have to switch to VZW, have a few questions

OK so im getting kicked off of sprint for roaming to much.. VZW works in my area (as im on a aircard with them now)

- the new $50 a month "pay as you go" plan looks like the only way to really got for unlimited service. I will buy a phone off ebay. the only pros I see for a contract plan with them is a "new" phone every 2 years.. this is NBD to me.. so if i got to this plan am I able to root say a droid X and tether and Wi-Fi?

Listed is what I found on vzw's webpage
VZW website said:
Unlimited Talk, Text & Web
Unlimited Nationwide calling
Unlimited Text to U.S., Canada, Mexico and Puerto Rico
Unlimited Web
Nationwide coverage

CALLING PLAN INFORMATION

$50 Unlimited Plan includes unlimited domestic calls only
$50 Plan includes Unlimited Texting* to anyone on any network in the U.S. and participating carriers in Canada, Mexico and Puerto Rico
V CAST Music – 99

My guess on this plan, because of the line about "Plan includes unlimited Mobile Web and does not include full web browsing", This prepaid plan is for web enabled feature phones and not smart phones, IE any android phone. An if I'm not mistaken, Verizon only permits certian phones on their prepaid plans.

just called VZW the only way to get a smartphone as a new customer and get unlimited is they offer a $95 a month plan prepaid that is unlimited everything for any smart phone .. (not on the website)..

this wont work as i have 3 phones i need to switch ...

My situation is this...
I bought an almost new Droid X2 from ebay. At first I had it programmed to work on Cricket, which cost 55 a month, but soon tired of the maintenance. I flashed it to stock and took it into Verizon and switched it over to them. I have the monthly plan, no contract, with 450 monthly minutes, unlimited text and photo, 2 gig smartphone data with the option to purchase more before the bill is due, and phone insurance for 103 bucks a month.
