HD on the Droid X

I thought the X was supposed to have 720p HD. I recorded a video and when watched on my 1080p tv through the HDMI cable, it is sucky...what gives???

Its meant to be able to take 720p, however the camera on the Droid X isn't that amazing and so it will be rubbish quality.

It's all set to 720p. I don't know why Motorola would put an HD recorder in a phone that could not display HD or output HD quality...bad move on their part.

it's still a camera phone in the end, and that's where watching it on a high res flat screen makes it look like doo doo.

Put the video file on your computer. Open that file in MediaInfo (free program), switch to Text View, then copy the results here. That way I can see if there is something wrong with the file.

A simple test is: if the video plays with a fine quality on PC, but rubbish on TV, then the problem lies with the phone's HDMI output to TV.

Just because its high res, doesn't mean it will actually look nice. That is marketing telling consumers that mega-pixels and resolutions actually matter. I bet it looks good on your phone because it is being forced onto a 480p screen.

When you view it on your 1080 screen is it scaling?, stretching out to fit the screen? If so that is a contributing factor to why it looks bad. Try setting your TV to 720 in the menu.
