While waiting for Rush to come on, there was a news report of interest. Apparently, next year, all new cell phones will incorporate a chip to facilitate the reception of updates, warnings, terror alert changes. apparently, this is the White House's and DHS idea.

Any of you conspiracy theorists want to run with it? Better idea than implanted chips the Masonic Order (or is it the CIA doing that?) wants.

Anyway, I am truly scared, truly I am.

So we root our phones and turn it off.. Or will that be a federal offense?

I have not looked for the specifics, so I really can't say what will be done. But one might suggest that if this is indeed a law (is it?) and these chips do arrive, it might be a problem. Or perhaps the government wont care if the chip is disabled. Or will they?

I know some that love the odd conspiracy or two will have a good time telling us what "they" are really up to.

.........along with secretly monitoring your calls, text, web searches and downloads.

Why would they need a new chip to do anything like that?

You can do all that with the current cellphones. Heck, you can actually remotely open the speaker mic from any where in the world.

Why would they need to implant a new chip that pretty much does everything that the current technology allows?

As for public broadcast, it can be done with current technology, all they would need to do is have a universal data base, which they do. How do you think the cellphone companies or any company sends you text messages?

Lastly, why would Rush care, it was Bush the ok the evasive use of mobile data collecting. Remote tracking= Bush. Remote bugging=Bush. Remote recording=Bush. Rush should be happy that Obama is securing this country from the enemies. LOL.

If you are afraid, then you have no idea what can be currently done. Any where you go, tracked. Any conversation you have near a phone, on or off, recorded.

But there is a positive note, with the government socializing private industry, you will soon be able to place your drive through order by clearing speaking into your off cellphone.

So let us explore this a tad. You ask why do they need a special chip. I might ask what else will this new chip do? They can do amazing things with current technology, so why indeed, a special chip? Must be something else going on. I am really really scared.

LOL

As for Rush caring, read the OP. I did not say Rush cares; I said I listened to the news while I was waiting for Rush to arrive on my radio. He did mention it however.

I also think I was kidding about being afraid. Sorry I forgot the LOL. So stock up on LOLs. Here is a supply to get you started: LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL

Personally, I think it is good for chip makers and conspiracy theorists. We all know the government wants only the best for us so do not fear the chip, embrace it, all will be well.

LOL

Bitter much? Oh come on tell us how you really feel.

Conservatives are the ones that force 911 gps on every cellphone, or have you forgot? Warrant less gps tracking, conservatives. I mean they are just continuing down the path that Bush and the conservative party set as the gold standard for domestic spying. If you really cared about this topic, why would you listen to a radio show by and for the people that are forcing this issue?

Rush mentioned it, but I found out about it in a news broadcast preceding the show. Not sure how Mr. Limbaugh feels either way, other than to ask why do we need special chips to do what can be done with current tech.

Unless there is something more to it. Perhaps in the months ahead, the tinfoil hat crowd can shed a little conspiratorial light on the real reasons. They are so smart, you know. Perhaps I'll just wait for the Wikipedia entry to get to the truthy truth. They are so smart, you know.

I was going to ask a psychic, but they take odd vacations and not too reliable. Not one of them was working on September, 11th, apparently.

So what is so bad about GPS and 911 . . . it makes perfect sense to me. Especially the way I drive. As for domestic spying, we need more of it. We do not do as much as some folks claim we do. Some are a tad too worried about nothing.

Remember, if they wanted you, you would already be in custody.

For the record, Bob is never bitter. He has far too much to keep him jolly and quite satisfied. Money, a three story historical house, nice cars, great phone, girls occasionally like me; the old ones love me; a nice stamp collection, fine quality fountain pens, a dog that cares, a girl that does not care but shows up unless I am out on a date or she is, I live a republican lifestyle, God asks for my wisdom, I can afford some rather nice cigars and a jug or two of some rather fine single malt, and I own an iPad.

Me not worried.

Republicans and Democrats take away my liberty all the time. there are not enough people that care enough to change that which would make a grassroots effort plausable.

we try, but there are more stupid sheep followers than there are people that believe and will fight for liberty.

An article I read stated that it would be an SMS message that would be sent through cell towers in the affected area. And secret government recording? That was so 2002 or whenever the patriot act was signed in.

As for Obama protecting us? Ha! We haven't had a president in the last 30-40 years that was interested in protecting us. They only protect people who donate into their campaign fund.

From the Boston Globe:

After more than five years of planning, a national emergency alert system that will send messages to cellphones during disasters is set to be launched in New York City and Washington by the end of year.

The chairman of the Federal Communications Commission, Julius Genachowski, said the Commercial Mobile Alert System will direct messages to cellphones in case of a terrorist attack, natural disaster, or other serious emergency. The plan was approved by Congress in 2006.
