Headphones not detected

Beags

Lurker
I have tried every solution I can find to resolve the following but am stumped, any help appreciated!

I have a set of wired headphones that are 18 months old. I broke one of the buds so I bought a replacement set of the same make/model. The replacement set is not recognised by my phone when I plug them in. The old set is still recognised, as are other headphones.

If I use an audio app I can force the sound through the new speakers so I know they work.

The plug appears to be the same (4 pin) on both sets of headphones.

I've unpaired all bluetooth devices and restarted phone.

There appears to be no reason why this would happen. I have been unable to find anybody with similar issues online. Any help appreciated! Thanks

An obvious question: are these headphones detected by other devices?

If not then there is some problem with them (probably a connection inside them).

Thanks for your reply Hadron. They are detected by other devices but only for sound (ie no mic or remote function). Have come to same conclusion re connection issue and will return them.
Cheers

The headphone and usb sockets on the p9 are lint collectors! The following is at your own risk. I used a wooden cocktail stick to remove the lint from both. Fixed both headphone detection, and charging. Take care not to use too much force as it might damage the connectors or you might break off the stick!! worked for me. Avoid using a metal or other conducting tool!

I have the same problem. But some headphone works fine but others not. Seems like it's a software problem.

Headphone detection depends only on electrical connections being made. So variations in the headphone jacks, or maybe damaged wires inside, would be my first suspicion, since the software won't be much more than triggering when resistance drops below some level.
