Help Headphones won't go in all the way

Why and what can I do to fix it?

There's no lint in the jack. The headphones managed to fit before. I also tried plugging in different headphones into my phone but to no avail.

  • Have you had the case open?
  • Have you tried to use "canned air" to blow any dust out of it? Angle the little plastic wand across the opening at a 45° angle.
  • Have you placed the jack on the bottom side, and then "tapped" it solidly agasint a counter top?

After all of the above, I just pushed a LOT harder and mine finally went in all the way....

thanks everyone! I thought there was nothing in there after the amount of digging i'd already done, plus i looked in with a torch and it looked smooth at the bottom. That's because by trying to jam the headphones in, i'd compressed all the lint into something solid. With your encouragement to dig deeper, i found a really thin but strong piece of wire (i guess a pin is similar, mine was even thinner) and scratched around heaps, which broke up the solid thing into bits. first a tiny bit came out, i turned the jack down and tapped it on the table, dug more, got a HUGE lint ball. Headphones got in enough to play through. Dug some more. Finally the headphones go in all the way to that satisfying little click. Perfect. Thanks for the encouragement! Now DIG!

I had the same problem and it was lint. You will see SHINY bottom if there's no lint, any matte stuff is lint. Use any thin wire to break it. Done't have to have a hook, a straight wire will be sufficient to break the lint apart and pull it out.
