Headset Mic - In Car

Hi,

Im setting up my phone (HTC desire HD) in the car so that it is docked\charging\in car mode\plays music and phone through stero\respones to voice and music (button) commands.

Through a mixture of tasker and soldering I have this working.

However I have reached and annoying problem I want to control the music by a button by my side so what I did was splice a set of TRRS earphones and send the mic\buttons to my waist and the audio to the stero, now this works fine when I'm stopped (ie quiet) but once driving the "Voice Control" app picks up audio signals from the mic in the heaset which is extemly sensitve (I believe its called setting the gain very high?) this causes the background noise to crowd out user voice.

My solution is to instruct android to use the phone mic but still respond to headset buttons, can this been done? If it cant be done through software are there earphones on the market which have headset buttons but NO mic? This way I might be able to remove the mic from the headset and hope the phone defaults to the internal one.
I know the phone dectects TRRS headphones by shorting the ground and mic lines on input but does it also test for a mic? fluctuating resistance prehaps?
Any other ides?

Thanks,
Ger.
