Is there a kernel tweak to fix or reduce the heating by power button area? I've tried the usual reduce brightness , location off , cleaning apps etc .

It sounds like you have a program (app) running overtime....
I have that at times with Verizon security app. I have an app killer (Task Manager) that I run when I think it's getting to hot.
