Are you running an intensive app like a game? Any task killers? How's the battery?

Boot your phone into Safe Mode, (see video), and use it for 2 or 3 hours like that and see if your phone still heats up. If not, it will be down to one of your own user apps or settings and you will need to start tracking down which one.
