Help Help Accessing Phione Contacts

Hi,

I have a HTC One XL and am finding it strange trying to access contacts to dial since i have come accross from iphone.
Can someone please explain an easy way?
I liked on the iphone when i selected the phone icon i could then just go to favourites and ring.
When i go to favourites on the Htc then i exit, if i go back again i have to change the tab.
Hoping someone can help me please.

I use the HTC People widget with my favorites

Have you imported your contacts into google and marked which ones you want as favourites? They should be at the top of the list when you press the phone icon then.
