(help) Android phone app

im planning to buy a phone
either samsung galaxy s2 or samsung galaxy note.

i just want to know if all android apps works on both s2 or galaxy note ?

does android update AUTOMATICALLY the OS (2.3 gingerbread) into new version if already available ?

if 4.0 ice cream sandwich will be available to samsung galaxy s2 or note will it be updated automatically or like you need to go to( check for updates menu) something like that on the phone ?

No.

There are lots of android apps that only work on specific phones, most but not all work on s2

No single Android phone has access to ALL apps. As mentioned before, there are specific ones. Most notably Xperia Play specific games for example.
