Help, cannot free up esn

I got a droid from a girl that just bought out her contract, apparently the esn is still hung up on the account until the end of her billing cycle. Is there a way to free up the esn or do i just have to wait after her billing cycle ends to activate the phone?

You should have waited until the ESN was clear. I hope you know this girl.

She would have to change the ESN on the account to a different non-used phone in order to free it up, or have a tech dummy it out but only the acct holder can do it so if you know her thats good. If not you'll have to wait.
