Help HELP! Connection to my Laptop

I cannot get my laptop to recognize my Mesmerize! I plug in the usb cord, and I switch my phone to usb mass storage, and everything seems fine on that end, but my laptop does absolutely nothing. When I look at my Computer, it doesn't say that I have a device plugged in.

At one point I tried to install some drivers someone suggested to me and I did the little trick where you turn on the phone while it's plugged into the computer, and those haven't worked. I also tried updating my operating system (64-bit Windows Home Premium) and doing all applicable updates from HP, and nothing seems to help.

I really want to be able to move media between my phone and computer without buying the little SD adapter card. Can someone please help me using simple words? I a little computer stupid :/

Well one way I have done it was send the information in an e-mail.
I have done this at work where I don't have a usb cable to connect to my pc.
Not sure what you are trying to transfer, but docs and pics should be able to be sent.
You may have to sign up for a 2nd web based mail if you only have one, but that's pretty simple to do.

When you say "SD adapter card" didn't you phone come with the micro sd card adapter?, mine did. was in the box packaging.
If your computer is new enough to be able to run 64 bit os, it should have a direct sd card slot that the adapter should plug into.

You don't need your USB cable at all. My USB cable has been nothing but a charger cable since the day I bought the phone.

Download Dropbox on your phone. Set up an account. Install Dropbox on your Laptop.

From your phone, upload any file you want on your Laptop to Dropbox.
