Hey Everyone Im Currently New to The Site But I Have an Upgrade I Can Use on a New Phone. I Now Have a Droid X & Like The Aspects of it But Feel it's Time For Something New. I've Been Leaning Towards The Droid Bionic But Been Hearing About People Taking The Phone Back For Some Reason so Feel Kinda Sceptical. So Basically Need Help to See if It's a Right Choice or Not or Should Just Wait For Something Else.

I'm kinda in the same boat as you, (Although not new to the site) but I got my "X" on launch day and it's been a great phone. I think sometimes I'd like a new phone but worry that any phone I get would be a dissappointment after having such great luck with my "X". Right now I'm just waiting to see what gets announced at CES 2012. Then I'll make a decision about what my next phone will be,

Good luck,

Only reason to get a Bionic is price, IMO. If you like Motoblur, consider a Razr. Personally, I don't like the feel of the razr physically, or motoblur, but moto makes pulling files and playing tunes off your PC really easy. The water-resist coating inside is cool too. Inability to change battery, not cool IMO. #3 of the current VZW crop of 3 big hitters.

HTC Rezound: IMO, best phone out there right now, but some people find it too thick, and some people don't like the sense interface. Best screen resolution on any phone right now. Used to be you couldn't root this, which some people care a lot about, but HTC has served up root on it, so that's a wash now.

Google Nexus: Pure android 4.0- Nice. Bright OLED screen. Some like, some don't. My impression was, "Damn, the colors really pop on this! Wait- Why am I seeing banding? And the black isn't really black..." One person's "rich colors" is another's "oversaturated" so you just have to decide that one for yourself. Poorer radio reception is causing issues there, made worse by VZW's "it's just the bars" denial.

The question of "which is best" between Rez or GNex is a subject hotly debated.

ETA: BTW, "DROID" is just a marketing name. It started out being a badge of honor for the top-of-the-line android phone, but not so any more. So you might better ask "Which should be my new android phone" rather than "Which should be my new Droid."

Same here, X on launch date, been out of contract since last May. I keep passing on everything Verizon announces cause the DX is running great. Maybe something will catch my eye during CES, or wait on the quad cores in Q1,Q2. But it's gonna have to grab me, like the DX did before it was released. My frontrunner right now is the Samsung Galaxy SIII. Still no word if it will be CDMA, or if it will every exist for that matter.

So far haven't see anything mentioned at the CES that "Cranks my Handle".... Now I'm hearing that the new phones the manufacturers are coming out with this year will be shown at the Mobile World Congress in Feb.

I had heard that the new 2nd generation LTE radios might be coming the first half of this year. So far no mention of that at CES. I know that it still has 3 more days to run, so maybe Wednesday Thursday or Friday. I'll be keeping my fingers crossed but doesn't look promising.

I guess not a huge problem as long as my "X" keeps humming along.

Anyone heard anything that I missed?

No, if you're happy with your DX for now, I'd plan on sitting tight for a bit- A good 3 months at least.

The next big things are going to be viable android tablets at reasonable prices. After that, you'll get the next iteration LTE phones, I'd guess.

I'm more than happy.... It's the best phone I've ever had. That's one of the things that has me worried... how to get a phone that tops my "X"? I'm ready to wait as long as I have to.... I'll be eligible for an upgrade in March (Got my "X" on launch day) but if I have to wait 6 months or more I will. So I hopin' they announce some great phones at CES but for sure and the Mobile World Congress.

Best of luck to all of us,

I switched from my DroidX to the Galaxy Nexus and it's amazing. Yeah, Android 4.0 ICS is the main reason it's so great. This operating system works flawlessly. I too was very happy with my X, but this phone flat out works much better. No lag, restarts, etc. I do think the X is physically built tougher, and it's battery will last longer, but that's the only advantages. Nexus is similar size, 4G, beautiful display, superfast camera and pure Android. I doubt anything in the next couple months will come out and top it.
