Help I need a better usb tether

If you're rooted, there's a wired tether app in the first post here. It's the same as the one hosted on code.google.com, but has a couple extra lines of code to make it work on the Evo.
 
the problem is i have that program and cant figure out how to get it to be recoginised by my pc as a connection on my network
 
I use easyTether and it works on my Droid X and Windows 7 laptop. I do have to set the USB connection to Mass USB Storage for it to work. It would not see the phone in PC mode.

i use the sync setting on my evo.... weird, but it used to work on storage mode. now i choose sync, click done, and back aroow out of the actual attempt to sync. then easy tether works. ALSO important, you have to disable other network connections in vista, or the conflict screws it up, dunno if tru for 7. hope

I just set-up Easy Tether with my Win XP, and it took a bit of working thru, but its running fine. Make sure the USB Debugging is checked. And that you are using the "mounted" setting.
I am not rooted.
I unplugged my Network Cable, and shut off the wireless, and was getting out via my Eris.
