Help in updating my HTC Hero

hi im from the UK and currently have the HTC hero with Android 1.5. i have heard of 1.6. when and how can i update my phone's OS/firmware to 1.6 or the newer 2.0? please help.
 
There's no update for the Hero and many other Android phones yet. HTC says the Hero is getting 2.1 in the new year. If you search the forum there's lots about this.

When the update is ready is should be pushed to your phone. You can always check here for updates. HTC - Support
 
The only ROM out there for 2.0 that I'm currently aware of is the Fresh ROM, but it's not 100% ready yet.

Unless someone else can point me in another direction?

I don't even think anyone is bothering with 1.6, no reason to waste time on it.

wow - that post is very VERY difficult to follow...so exactly which item are we supposed to download and which part of the post is the most up dated part again? lol

EDIT - my link is for the CDMA Hero, since you're in the UK, chances are you're not using a CDMA Hero.
 
if he's from the uk wouldn't he need the GSM version?

There isn't any official 2.1 versions out just hacks from an early release and not everything works as far a i know.
