Hello and welcome to the forums, sandman.

There are a few suspicions when it comes to loss of a system function. Let's go through a few of those:

- Remove your battery, sim card and sd card, carefully and with the device turned off. Wait about a minute and then put it all back in, boot up and then test for voice dialing.

- Go into the Application Manager and clear cache and data on all Google related apps (Google Search, Google +, Gmail, Play Store, etc). This will cause you to have to reconfigure Gmail, etc, but is worth the effort if a corruption has occurred in those apps. Reboot, then test for voice dialing after doing all of that.

- Do a factory data reset (Factory Reset Sony Xperia J). This will restore your device to original new condition, as if "out of the box." Test for voice dialing. If not there, return the device for exchange or refund.
