Lurker
Hi,
As my name suggests I detest everything about Apple, their ethos, the way they do business, everything. Unfortunately though I am an audiophile and love good quality music especially in the car and the iOS is the only thing that delivers.
I've had to put up with years of ridiculously expensive iPhones, stupidly small screens, a very restrictive iOS, sneaky business tactics of withholding essential functions only to sell the same with expensive apps, a boring as hell interface etc etc etc purely so that I'd be able to hook it up to my decent Pioneer car stereo and get GOOD QUALITY lossless music from the device to the car stereo's digital audio converter via USB. WHY OH WHY is this not possible with Android??
I've spoken at length to car audio specialists and they pretty much say all the options (mirrorlink etc) are unreliable and clunky at best. Except for Android Auto - but the cheapest Android Auto Pioneer head unit is a cool £550 (!!!). I can get a Pioneer Head Unit that plays nicely with Apple for only £300, or even stick with the one I have and have it go down USB.
What are my options? I've *heard* that if I root an Android (I was thinking of Note 3/Note 4/S5) I may be able to get it to play music down the USB and be recognised by the head unit (am happy to control it via the phone just need it to travel down via good quality USB connection - I DON'T want to use headphone aux or worse still bluetooth!!).
Can anyone please help me? I'm a reluctant iOS user just itching to kill Apple in the balls....!!!!
