Hi everyone i ve reently upgraded to jellybean and ive had nothing but trouble please can you help me get back to
ICS all help appreciated. thanks in advance.

This is usually caused by some settings not taking effect properly after an update.

You can't easily just undo a firmware update, you would have to hook up to a pc and flash an original firmware version of ICS with odin.

A much simpler solution is to hook up to a pc and do a backup/sync with kies, then do a factory reset via the phone it's self. This will enable the JellyBean firmware to install properly, and then restore/sync your phone via kies.

Hi thank you very much for your reply. im going to do the kies option the only problem is im worried if i put the JB back on i will have the same problems...what do you think i should to update to JB or stay on ICS.

Thanks Zoe

What are the problems, by the way? 4.0 to 4.1 is a major update, so a factory reset is always recommended. In fact, there's a sticky thread written by SUroot explaining it quite well.

im not recieving all my text messages...im having problems opening the messages it closes it down or opens up a completely different text and its showing i have 2 messages on my envelope icon but noe messages are there///ive tried hard reset...deleting text and theres no limit on my messages so cant be that x

Then, I'd suggest you to factory reset the phone. Even if you were to go back to ICS now, you'd need to factory reset at least once to make sure everything is clean. It's not a JB issue the ones you have, so there's no point going back.

Typical symptoms of conflicts from an update. The sms notification on the icon is a well known and documented issue.

With a fresh reset/install JB should run fine.

Don't forget you can always try an alternative app for sms from the play store. (like Go sms)

you will lose all ya data on apps but u can reinstall them from your google play. if the app is linked to facebook then i think the data will be safe. you can back up the game data but its tricky x

If i do the factory reset can lose all the apps ...?

There are different methods of backing up data.

The only way to keep all your data is to have an image of your phone and sd card from before the reset. (requires rooting the phone)

You can sync all Google apps to keep your contacts / calender events etc

Some apps that have settings like Go sms, let you back up that apps settings to sd card

You can sync / backup to kies on a pc to create as "close to an image" as possible, without having to root your phone.

Typically, for an unrooted phone is best to sync all accounts. Then backup & sync to kies. Do your factory reset. Restore from kies and/or add accounts and sync them (maybe add accounts before restoring from kies)

thank you so much. how come JB is already on after the reset? i thought the ICS would be back on like hei bought it xx

I understand why you would expect ICS to be on the phone, but a firmware upgrade doesn't account for downgrading back to what it was originally.

Files, apps etc, get over-written with an updated version. The phone or firmware does not hold the older versions that got replaced. This is why firmware updates and patches are normally irreversible.

With any luck, you won't be seeing anywhere near as many bug's as you were though, so JB should prove to be a better experience for you.
