Help HELP: Microsd card behaving very strangely

Lurker
Sorry, this is going to be long, but I really have no idea what's going on.
So I bought a 64 gb Sandisk class6 sdxc microsd card from Amazon. (sold by Amazon) I thought this was the most reputable way to buy an sd card so that's what I went with.

It arrived, everything looked right, so I put it in and I formatted it from my desktop. (windows xp, if that matters) It showed ~59gb of free storage.

I copied my files over manually through explorer (with the phone plugged in) It wasn't a lot, maybe ~8gb, all music. When I put it into my phone, I realized that not all the files were there. I'd say maybe 10-20% of the files were missing, or inaccessible. However, the SD card was displaying the proper amount of storage.

Since the files were supposedly already in the sd card, I couldn't understand why I wasnt seeing it. I also couldnt see it from my desktop.

So I formatted the microsd card from my sg3 and I tried to copy the files over again. Still can't see all my files even though my desktop said it copied over all the files.

This is where it gets weird. I tried formatting it AGAIN, from my desktop. However, formatting didn't delete all the files...it somehow only deleted like 75% of them. So I formatted again. Less files, but most were still there. I formatted like 20 times in a row, and finally the sd card displayed as empty. Here, I suspected that the cause might be because I was copying over my files finally. So I installed Samsung Kies and used it to transfer my files over for like the 5th time.

It seemed to work better than before, but I was still missing maybe 10% of my files (couldn't access them from phone)

Now I suspect I may have formatted the card incorrectly from the start, so I am now formatting the card with a card reader plugged into my laptop running Win7. I formatted it under all the default values(exFAT, etc), and then unchecked "quick format". It's about 50% done formatting as I type this. What do you guys think is the problem? I would have thought that this was a fake or a defective, but it's from an official seller and all the packaging looked right. Could I just have gotten a single defective card?

EDIT: Once it's done formatting, I am going to run h2testw.exe on it, as suggested by someone else in another thread. I will followup with details.

Pretty sure the card has to be formatted as FAT 32. I just had a goofy card today and posted about it. My post might've been the one you read. Definitely run that h2testw. It showed that my card was corrupt beyond belief.
