need to apply for jobs

You can get software, from Microsoft, that will let you open older doc. files with 2007 & 2010 software

Open Office should work for you.

I've tried OpenOffice, that allows you to open old docs up. it cannot save that old doc to a version of office from 2003 to 2010

but in my case what I need is to save it from 2003 to 2010 office doc. as when i send my c.v the recruiter has office between 2003 to 2010 so they can read it+ other online jobs only save word docs, OpenOffice cannot do that it can only save the doc in office 2000 which the recruiter cannot open as it old version

You can save it just by copying it.

Do you want to edit it or print it? That is a different story.

  • Open Office (and Libre Office, IIRC) will open (and thus edit, print, save, etc) Micro$oft Office documents, to a point (disclaimer - I haven't used it in a while, and there were limitations back then, those may not exist anymore, both of these suites may be 100% interoperable with M$ Office docs, I just don't know or sure).
  • Google Docs will allow you to upload, convert, edit, and save and print Micro$oft Office, and directly from your web browser, no less.
  • Micro$oft has their own (paid) web app called Office 365 which accomplishes the same thing as Google Docs.
  • Micro$oft has Viewers and converters available that will allow you to read and print Office documents (but not edit).

There are probably others, as well, like SkyDrive, but I'm not sure if you can edit docs directly in there or not.
