Help Help! My phone becomes unbootable suddenly

It is Samsung Galaxy Note 2, unrooted.
I factory reset my phone to stock ROM about a week ago. Suddenly it became unbootable today. I didn't do anything risky. If my memory serves, I simply updated an app one day before this incident.

It always stuck at the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 logo screen.
I can boot to recovery mode and download mode.

The following errors displayed when I booted to recovery mode:
Android system recovery < 3e >
KOT49H.N7100ZSUFNL1

E:failed to mount /efs (No such file or directory)
E:failed to mount /system ((No such file or directory))

I tried to wipe cache partition. It didn't help.

1. How could I backup data in this case?
I just need to get back my photos.

2. How could I fix and restore my phone?

Please help. Thanks a lot.

Well your data(photo's) maybe gone if you don't have them on the micro sd card.
And what I would start with is,Reflash the stock rom.

Edit: This here will help you with re flashing the stock firmware:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1896696
Plus be sure to remove your sim and micro sd card before flashing back to stock as they will be wiped clean,When your done re flashing the stock firmware,You can put them back in.

No way to check if those data are still here?
I would like to try my best to backup the photos before I do a reflash.
I would highly appreciate any workaround or method. Thanks.

After the factory reset, were you able to boot the phone and then it started failing? Sometimes after a reset, a phone will sit on the splash screen for a long time (up to 20 minutes) while it recompiles the apps. It might look like it's hung, but it's just busy. Let it try to boot for about that long and see it if get's past the errors.

Yes it worked after the initial factory reset. It suddenly became unbootable after one week of usage.
I waited for more than one hour. It never passed through the logo screen.

That's not good. :(

I'm not sure there's much you can do at this point but try and reflash the firmware to get your phone working, but I fear the photos and the rest of your data will be gone. If I were to guess, I would say that your file system has been corrupted. Maybe the app you updated caused it, or maybe a sector of internally memory failed. There's really no way to tell if you can't get into the logs (and even if you could there's no guarantee that you will find a cause.)

You said you can get into recovery, but you get the file system errors. Will it at least let you try a factory reset? A factory reset might not touch the sdcard partition, but I think (if memory serves) Samsung's wipe everything.

No chance you were backing up your photos to Google or your Samsung account?

Is it possible to reflash the ROM without wiping the photos?
If so, how?

I don't want to try a factory reset first. This will remove all my photos.

Unfortunately no. :(
