Help Help: "New tag collected"

This message keeps coming up on my Samsung Galaxy S3. I am unsure what the feature is actually used for as I haven't came across it before, but it seems to be interacting with my electronic bus pass from my wallet. Is there any way of stopping this or turning it off?

Also, an explanation of this feature would be helpful too.

That's NFC. It should only be able to scan your bus pass when the screen is on and the pass is within a couple centimeters. You can disable NFC and it should stop.
