Help on Palm-like "Task" app?

Hello all,

I am brand new to these boards, so I apologize if my plea for help is misplaced and/or to wordy...I thank you for your patience and any help you can offer.

I just purchased my first smartphone (a Samsung Galaxy S) because my old phone (non-"smart", purchased in 2007) *finally* began to literally fall apart (dropping buttons and whatnot). It is/was with some trepidation that I enter the smartphone culture because I am a Palm lover....I received my first Palm Pilot as a gift in 2001, and a series of no-internet-connection Palms (most recently the Palm Zire 22) helped me stay sane through undergrad, grad school, and the first few years of teaching as a college professor. I always said that I would wait until my cell carrier picked up Palm phones (like the Treo, Centro, etc) to merge my cell and PDA, but I apparently missed the boat on that, as Palm no longer makes smartphones. So now I am learning to like the android platform, and trying my best to find apps that mimic my beloved Palm functions.

I mostly use/used my Palm for the "Calendar" and "Tasks" functions. I feel very fortunate to have found (thanks to these boards) "DejaOffice" for my calendar/scheduler (LOVE LOVE LOVE the ability to colorcode and repeat items, just like on my Palm!), but I am having some serious trouble finding an android app to replace the Palm "Task" function. I have scoured the boards and google and have come up empty handed, hence my post.

I am looking for a task/to-do-list app that allows me to:
1) label tasks with due dates (that can be modified if need be)
2) label tasks with numeric priorities (at least 1-5, IDEALLY 1-10)
3) place tasks in categories (labelled with words, not colors)

It seems to me that these requests would be pretty simple, but I am finding that popular apps like Astrid, Jorte, and even DejaOffice's DejaTasks do not allow one to label tasks with numeric priorities, which is imperative for me and my neuroses.

Any app suggestions are VERY appreciated. Thanks very much!

I also was a long time Palm user, since the original Palm Pilot in 1996, recently ending when my TX crapped out. Palm was built with an organizer as it's roots. Android is nothing like that, but there are plenty of apps to customize to your needs. The hard part is finding them. I spent a great deal of time here in these forums looking for what would work for me. Androidforums has been very helpful. If you search these forums for "Palm" users you will be surprised at the amount of discussions there have been.

One app that I use that may be close to what you are looking for is "Pimlical for Android". It is a Calendar app that integrates Tasks neatly.

The developer does not sell his app in the Android Marketplace, rather through pimlicosoftware.com. This developer has been around a long time, famous for the Palm Date Book app. He is working on a Windows Desktop app that syncs with Android through USB. I'm watching this close and may try it when it matures.

dejaoffice DOES already let you set task priority to numbers. there is an option in the menu that says USE PALM STYLE. you can also hit the menu to change between categories
