help on samsung galaxy wifi 5.0 please

my samsung galaxy wifi 5.0 won't turn on properly. I would have to plug it just to turn it on and it often shows the message that it is connected to the pc with the usb cable even though it's not. I've had it for 7 mons. already and this has never happened before...please help/
