Help please - missing system app - Galaxy S2 / ICS

Big Wal

Lurker
Hello all - sorry if I've posted this in the wrong place - I'm new to the forum.

I've gone and got myself into a bit of a bind.

I did an 'uninstall updates' for Google Maps (long story, not relevant), and now:

  • If I select Maps from the "Applications" folder I get a message saying "Application is not installed on your phone",
  • Also, if I go to Settings -> Applications -> All it's not listed there.
  • BUT, if I then go to the "Play Store" it tells me that the app is "Installed", so it won't let me re-install / update it. :(
This even happens when I go to the web version of the store.

Any help would be much appreciated!

Hi Big Wal, welcome to Android Forums.

I'm not really sure how to help, did you try clearing cache and data for Maps and the Play Store.

Also, when you go to the play store, what options do you have for Google Maps? Is it just 'Installed' ?

I guess if you 100% need google maps, you could do a factory reset on the device... but make sure you back up everything with the relevant applications first. (Contacts backed up with google, sms with Sms Backup and Restore, etc.)

We do have S2 sub-forums, located here (there's a lot!)

Hope that helps, and maybe someone smarter will have a better solution,
