Help please with smart tv dongle

I have a telechip cortex A-5 smart tv dongle. It has minimal user instructions. It is running android 4.04
It is wifi connected to a d-link adsl router and can see the internet.
My Lenovo laptop is also wifi connected to the same router.
The two devices cannot see one another.
I want to play movies on my laptop on the Sony TV thru the dongle.
Please help

I guess you'd set a network share -with the video files stored- on your laptop.
On your dongle choose a video player which can access network shares.
