Hello there and welcome!
I would assume you were not rooted when you took the update?

You could try the next simplest thing:
.... boot into recovery and wipe the cache partition, ONLY the cache partition, then reboot from there. :)
https://www.androidpit.com/galaxy-s3-recovery-mode-how-to-reboot-into-recovery
First, turn your Galaxy S3 off. Now, press and hold the Volume Up, Power and Home buttons until you see the Samsung screen. Release the Power button but continue to press Home and Volume Up until you are brought to the stock recovery mode on the Galaxy S3

The next thing to do is to backup your important things and factory reset (as factory reset will wipe your device clean).

Third option is to flash the firmware (which will also wipe the device clean).

Yes damn autocorrect and are there any other ways to fix this problem just in case? If it doesn't work
If there is, I'm not aware of it. There may be some way to apply an update via the sd card (done in recovery) but I don't know how, sorry.
Perhaps someone else will pop in here with other options :)
