I have an EasyAcc 12000 mAh 4-port power-pod ... gotten from Amazon for about $42, now down to $38 ...
Amazon.com: EasyAcc 12000mAh 4 USB External Battery Pack Charger Power Bank For iPhone 5 4S 4 3GS; iPad Mini, iPad 4 3 2; Android Tablets:Samsung Galaxy Tab 2, Note 8.0 10.1; Google Nexus 7,10; Acer B1; iPod; Android Smartphone: Samsung Galaxy S4, S3
... they also have a 2-port version for $35 also.
Amazon.com: EasyAcc 12000mAh 2 USB External Battery Pack Charger Power Bank For iPhone 5 4S 4 3GS; iPad Mini, iPad 4 3 2; Android Tablets:Samsung Galaxy Tab 2, Note 8.0 10.1; Google Nexus 7,10; Acer B1; iPod; Android Smartphone: Samsung Galaxy S4, S3
These are capable of powering iPads fully (~ 7000ish mAh) with 2 full charges for a droid-4 and can charge 2 smartphones at once.
I have used and abused mine heavily since I got it in december and went for an entire work-week without using wall-power to charge the phone or re-charging the power-pod.
The power-pods will accept (charge-faster with) 2.1A tablet chargers like the generic 2-port rounded type for $10 or so in WalMart's hardware / electrical section
Downsides =
* the 4-port power-pod is longer than a droid-4 by 1/2 an inch and barely fits in cargo-pants-pockets (I have to unplug the USB cable if I wish to be certain of not crimping the cable to death)
* no personal experience with the 2-port version
* the 4-port-version won't charge a Pebble-smartwatch unless it ALSO is actively charging a smartphone at the same time (the Pebble won't draw enough power for the power-pod to know that it is in demand and it auto-shuts-off)

There are generic-and-with-many-names $18 power-pods that claim to be 12000 mAh ... a commenter tested them and seemed to get around 5000 mAh out of them ...
Amazon.com: iRulu 12000mAh USB mobile Power Bank Traveling Portable External Battery Pack for ipad/iphone 4 4S iPod Samsung Galaxy, HTC.White: Computers & Accessories
I got one for my girlfriend without seeing that 5000-mAh review ... they do work, are smaller, lighter, etc, but her experience seems to agree in that her moderate use has taken her power lights down to half

However, if you are willing to get less than 12000 effective and aim to be cheaper and without tablet capability, you can get a 4000 mAh with a solar panel for $25 =

just went looking further :
same brand as mine, 10,000 mAh = $28 =

... and there's a $30 solar panel by the same EasyAcc company for charging their-or-other power-pods (or phones if you're a bit crazy) with very high power output for its size ... 1200 mA ... which is way higher ( = faster accumulation to the battery) than the 250mA of the $25 solar+battery one I listed above ... you *could* use this panel to a 10,000 or 12,000 and give it all day in sunlight and re-charge a tablet ... or just a few hours and have power to charge a smartphone daily for many-days-out-camping etc
