help - sky maps is unresponsive

For the last couple weeks, google sky maps has been unresponsive on my htc hero. I downloaded the latest version. Didn't help.

Sky maps comes up, but dosen't move when I move the phone 360 degrees. Doesn't move when I move the phone vertically.

My compass works. I re-calibrated the compass. Mad no difference to sky maps.

I can scroll sky maps around with my finger on the screen, so it can move. It just doesn't move when I move the phone around.

My accelerometer does work because my web browser and other apps do respond to the phone being oriented for portrait or landscape.

It occurred to me that this started sometime after I installed a bubble-level app. So I installed that. Then uninstalled sky maps (sky map uninstall/re-install by itself had done nothing). Then re-installed sky maps.
