HELP! Some of my apps do not work while others work perfectly

Toshoku

Lurker
Hello I have an HTC One M9 and my carrier is Sprint, it runs Android 6.0. My problem occurred about two weeks ago when I could not open my Uber app. I tried clearing the cache and then uninstalling the app and then reinstalling it but it didn't work. I also noticed that my Yahoo mail was not working and it kept giving me error messages saying that it had stopped. I've been noticed that there are other apps which do not work on my phone either.
The apps that do not work include Uber, Lyft CBS Sports, Quiz up, Yahoo mail, Clean Master. The apps that do work perfectly fine include Skype, line, WhatsApp, tinder, bumble, offer up, Google navigation, Facebook and FanDuel. The one app that actually works with the old version is Google Chrome but when i install the update it will Not work . I tried to go with the old version of my Yahoo mail but that didn't work . My Google account and Google mail do work on the other hand .
I am totally stumped as to why certain apps work While others do not. Whenever I try to open certain apps it'll just say tha the app has stopped. Again, I have tried uninstalling the apps and then reinstalling the apps as well as clearing the cache and data and that hasn't solved the issue. I would like to know if anyone knows what some of these apps have in common vs the ones that work for me to possibly find a solution. If anybody actually has had this problem on their phone please let me know any solutions that you have come up with. Thank you

Welcome to Android Forums.

If by "clearing the cache" you did not mean Wipe Cache Partition through Recovery ... do that.

You have Clean Master installed. I like millions of others do not. I suggest you uninstall it and ecvery other app from Cheetah Mobile. They cannot be trusted.

My guess would be that Clean Master killed off some essential services that those apps require. I'm with @Thom , get rid of it. If it came with your phone (I certainly hope not) as a system app then try to disable it, at least.

I'm having a similar problem - except on a tablet (Samsung Tab E), and I've only noticed it with Line and a couple of related games, and only on certain networks. They open but Line gives me "Unknown (or temporary) error - try again" when clicking on anything. The games start opening but message that they either can't connect to the internet or internet connection is unstable. This happens on my home wifi (Frontier) and just checked that it happens with my phone hotspot (Tribute HD on VirginMobile). On other networks (Starbucks, my dentist's office, others) they open, connect, and work fine.

Any ideas? I love an excuse to hang out at Starbucks and play games, but it's a little ridiculous.

If this should be somewhere else, please let me know. Thanks!

I believe both Amazon and Google have had data centre problems very recently. So things being unable to connect could be very well related to that. We had a post yesterday about it, certain apps and games couldn't connect.

So try again later I think.

I was able to fix this. Apparently I had changed my password to my email and it disabled these apps until I updated the password on my phone. I tried to send a pivots via email on my phone and it asked me to put the new password in... Then every other app started to work again! :)

I meant send a picture not pivots lol

Could be a confluence of conditions. I recent;y had a situation where my Netflix app wouldn't work at home on any android device but my iPad connected. It turned out to be an issue with the firmware on my range extender. And as Mike pointed out, Amazon was recently hit with a massive DOS attack so their servers may have been unresponsive across some networks.

If an app works in one location but not another, the first thing to check is the firewall and then verify that you have DNS settings correctly configured. Beyond that it could simply be bandwidth.
