Help Help to restore phone

Yes, I know that I shouldn't have been so stupid. But I was
I had a latest (air-updated) version in my Motorola-Cliq,
Blur_Version.1.6.1.MB200.T-Mobile.en.US
I wanted to update to 2.1 and did a very wrong thing: I decided to get root permissions and installed 'update.zip' that is Blur_Version.1.3.39.MB200. Orange.en.FR (to be more precise it became this version after the following upgrade).
Now I not only cannot update to 2.1, but I even cannot restore it back to 1.6 ('up to date' reported). What's worse it changed my keyboard layout.
The factory reset did not help; I just removed all my accounts and settings
Can somebody help me to restore to 1.6.1 or lower? It just needs to be ...T-Mobile.en.US, if I understand the idea.

Thank you to everybody who tried but couldn't help me.
The solution is very simple: I installed Blur_Version.1.4.8.MB200.T-Mobile.en.US.zip over the previously installed French version; then updated through air.
The only problem was to get 1.4.8; I could do this.
