Help: Where & Download Media?

Hi everyone, I was hoping that you'd provide me with a detailed answer

Ive recently bought an android tablet that i use while i travel, mostly on the plane.

Currently there seems to be an expansion of media particularly on streaming via the internet, however when im on a plane i cannot do that because there isnt internet access. I'm looking for media to be downloaded and kept for multiple views for later

So I was wondering where can you legally download and buy HD copies of movies and tv shows to keep or export to your android tablet for later viewing?
Which service do you guys use?

Now im not very knowlegable on the aspect on downloading either, so please explain how to download it, whether it is directly on the tablet or exporting it from a pc?
and is it even possible to export it from the pc, because ive read that some copies are locked to one device?

Ive done some research and this is what ive learned;

services like amazon video on demand are only available via kindle fire, and i cant buy it to export to a tablet; in other words, it is locked to one device

Netflix and hulu plus seem to only have streaming, and arent available outside the US

ofcoarse i could be wrong on some aspects, and please tell me if i am.
please give detailed answers guys

Welcome Droidman. Have you tried downloading media from the Play Store? It does not require a data connection to use, and you can rent movies instead of having to pay full price.

Well, you can just buy any DVD, rip them on your PC, and put the file into your tablet. RealPlayer also allows you to buy movies, and they have an Android app, but I haven't tried them yet.

If it's short term, you could rent a DVD from library, rip it, watch it on the plane, delete the rip and return the DVD to the library.

If you do a lot of it a scriptable solution would be handy.
