Help with adding a new contact

Hello,

I was hoping someone could help me with contacts. Everything is working with syncing to my google contacts. However, when I try to add a new contact from my phone, the default under "Contact Type" is "AT&T Address Book". I have to manually change this to be from my google account.

Is it possible to configure this somehow so the default Contact Type is my google account?

Get a non-AT&T phone

I expect not. I don't have AT&T listed, so that is probably something they put into your phone.
