Help with Android Market

OK, so, I am new to the android phones and the android market. And I set up my google checkout account thing to make purchases within the market with my debit card. And the way this worked with the apple app store was that if you tried to purchase an app and didn't have enough money for it in your checking account, then you wouldn't be allowed to purchase it. In the android market its becoming apparent that this isn't so. I now am being notified by my bank that I have been charged over the limit by the android market. And the bank is charging me 35 dollars for each day I bought some app, where I thought I had enough money to cover it. Does anyone know if theres a way to like set up your checkout account or whatever account so that the market wont charge you when you dont have enough money to buy apps?

That would be like having an app for your checkbook to prevent you from writing checks when your account is low.
You'll probably need to set this through you bank to prevent overdrafting. Or just use a credit card instead of your checking account. (which would be safer anyway.)
