Help Help with Galaxy S3 I9300 International (unrooted)

I think I've learned more about the i9300,Pit files and Nand in the last two months than I know about my own i747. It's been interesting and frustrating.
 
Thread pretty wild. Untar files and rearrange the order then retar. Over my head. My pc skills are very limited.
 
I´m reading several threads (glad xda has a good server, and my pc can handle 40 tabs at once) and many say that USB debugging must be turned on, but others say that Download Mode is there to help save a phone even if this is un-ticked.
Should I keep on trying or do any of you know if I´m stuck if USB debugging wasn´t enabled?

It´s frustrating to hit start and have nothing happen.
 
USB debugging needs the be enabled to use ADB. Download mode works regardless with Odin. Developer options doesn't even need to be enabled. With all my devices,I enable both just in case something borks and you might not be able to access it.
 
I do think you might want to start looking for a motherboard to see what's available and cost as a last resort. Changing the board on S3 is easy and lots of guides available.
 
Yea, I´m on the same line I think. They are expensive though: 75 USD and getting them sent to Argentina is a hassle.

I´ll just have to start saving. Meanwhile I´ll still keep trying with the Cygwin post...will keep updating here.
 
You might be able to find something local. You would be surprised at how many people hang on to phones with broken screens. Friends, neighbors,work/ school mates. I pick up alot of broken phones that way to play with. Fix them then offer them back for price of parts. Frankensteined a few S3's together that way. Also local eBay. As long as IMEI ESN clean you are good to go.
