Help Help with high data usage

Morning all,
Got a similar issue, and i dont believe device specific (hear me out anyway! :D )

I bought x21 Motorola MB525 (JCB edition) phones which run 2.3.6 (gingerbread?)

Anyway, out of all these handsets, which i configured the same (in November last year), the only additional apps that were installed were:
Divide (email), usual system updates, My Data Manager.

Anyway, 2 of the handsets have gone nuts! The one used 15gb of data in 1 month, which i only saw after the bill came in! :secruity:
Firstly i didnt think it was even possible for a phone to use that much in 1 month ?!!!! I asked the user to look at My Data Manager, and he said the phone shows 14.8GB mobile data for 'Divide', followed by saying, he doesnt use his company phone for email now, its not even configured, etc etc !!!!!!!
So the app has been downloading data, but no idea what kind of data as its not set to query a mail account! WTF!!! Got the user to disable 3G data for now...

Other handset i got back from the user, this one throws up the OS Services....
Guy who uses this phone is a techofobe! he makes a call, sends a txt and checks his email/sends email (using the Divide app), thats it.....

However, 2 apps show high data usage, the main one being:
7Digital (music streaming service).. There is no account setup to use it, the user doesnt use it anyway, yet on average over the past few months, its been using around 400mb data, with March showing 1.58GB ! WTF!!!!!!
OS services for the same month shows 550mb !!!!
OS Services for previous months are average 360mb a month!

All that from a guy who barely uses the phone, it was almost as if a lot of data is used overnight when he was asleep too ?!
I am baffled, big time, if i knew how/what used the data, it would help!!!
(if in wrong thread section, sorry!!!)

Hi Stuart, welcome to AF! :)

Via the accounts and sync menu, if they turn off "Background Data", does that make a difference?

The company mail account might no longer be configured, but does Divide still have an entry in the Accounts and Sync menu? Is it worth uninstalling the app?
