Apps Help with Location

I am fairly new to Android, a couple of small apps, and am trying to use the LocationManager to get the current location. I have looked at 3 examples of other peoples code and it is like mine, but my code does not hit the Location Listener ever (I put a Toast there). I have set the toggle "Enable GPS Satelites" and I think there is another setting that I am missing. If anyone can help me with this problem I sure would appreciate it.
