Hello twoboyzmom welcome to Android Forums.

You posted in the right place I think. :) Was this iTunes Store purchases that you made before January 2010? If so they've got DRM(Digital Restrictions Management) on them, to restrict/prevent you from sharing them, but it also restricts you from playing them on non-Apple platforms. There are ways to remove the DRM, but can't go into details here sorry, forum rules and DMCA, but Google is your friend. ;) Any iTunes Store music purchases made after that date don't have DRM and should play on your Galaxy no problem.

Most of what I'd want to transfer has been bought in last year or two at most. I just don't know how to easily get them on my phone now!

If they're purchased in last year or so, they won't have DRM and should play on your phone. The easiest way to tell is if a music file suffix is M4P, they have DRM, M4A does not, or right clicking on a purchased song in iTunes and look at Get info.

As you have a Mac, probably the easiest way would be to drag and drop or copy and paste the purchased song folders straight to the phone's music folder. You'll need Android File Transfer if you haven't already installed it.

Or the way I do it, is to use Airdroid on the phone and transfer the songs wirelessly.

If you're able to transfer the songs, but they won't play, is that the phone's stock music player can't play M4A AAC, although if it's a Samsung it should be able to.

Sounds confusing lol. I tried using file transfer last night and the kies program but no luck. Also tried the double twist app

If you got Android File Transfer and the phone connected, you can open the Finder > (your username) > Music > iTunes > iTunes Music and you should find all your purchased music there, sorted by artist, then you can just drag them into the Android File Transfer Window which goes to your phone. Alternatively, right click on a purchased song in iTunes, do Show in Finder and there they are, and again you should be able to drag them across into your phone via Android File Transfer.

I tried Double Twist a few years ago, didn't have much luck with it then, with an Android phone and a Creative Labs media player. Not tried it since.

Here's the thing though Apple only really designs their stuff to work with their own products. You have a Mac and iTunes, Apple expects you to have an iPhone or iPad.

I'm using a Mac myself sometimes, but I've only ever had one iPhone, the original one.
