help with my HTC HERO and cyanogenmod 7 upgrade?

Hello, I have recently gotten a HTC Hero 200 and found out about rooting and flashing it to the new OS. However, I am running into issues trying to download rom manager or clockworkrecovery. I was able to fully root it with superuser permissions, but am stuck there and not able to upload a new ROM for my phone. When I try to do it from Android Market with my laptop, it doesn't recognize my phone and then found it that it is not compatible anymore. When I search for ROM Manager, the only one that will come up is the ROM manager premium, which you need to have the free version first before you can even download it. HELP. Am I too late to upgrade this phone because it is no longer compatible on the Android market? Is there another way around it?

Hello and welcome to Android Forums. I'm sorry to hear you are having difficulties with your Hero 200. I believe the Hero 200 is a Sprint device. If so, here is a link to the root section you need to check out. Sprint Hero - All Things Root - Android Forums If you are not with Sprint, you will want to check out the other Hero root area which is here: Hero - All Things Root - Android Forums Following the correct link you will find the best root support for your device. I hope they can solve your problems. Thanks for joining these forums and I hope you enjoy your time here.

I have already successfully rooted my phone but stopped there. The next step was to download ROM Manager from the Android Market, but it is not there. The Premium version is listed, but not the free version. I researched and researched and found that I am not the only person having the problem with viewing Rom manager or that Android market does not recognize my phone when I'm logged in with my main google account. I am trying to find out if there is another way to download customs roms other than through Rom manager? I would like to flash my phone to cyanogenmod 7......but I keep reaching dead ends with it. Thanks
