help with my phone

[Android Question]

I have an Huawei Ascend y phone and am having trouble with it. It won't open my gmail and when I tap on it it says waiting for sync and your email will appear shortly. Well it's been 24 hours and I don't know what their version of shortly is but this isn't working for me. I also have deleted all my message threads and it keeps telling me that my incoming messages are being rejected due to my text message being full. Ugghhhhhh

THings to confirm:

1. Your data connection is active, and that sync is checked for Gmail
2. That the Gmail servers aren't down; had this happen to me more than once
3. Go to Settings - Applications - hit the All tab and scroll down to Gmail. Cler data and cache and reboot. Repeat this step for the Messaging app as well.
