Help Help with settings on my new phone please..

Thought I should post this in here as I'm sure the problem isn't specific to my phone. Maybe it's a network issue. I just got a Samsung Galaxy Portal (i5700) which was unlocked from the 3 network and I'm using it on Virgin. I've entered all the Virgin settings but it still wont establish a data/3G connection. As soon as I open the browser it says http://www.mobile.three.co.uk/hb/hutchkey cannot be displayed, even though I've changed the homepage to the virgin one. If I try to navigate to any other page I get the same error.

I thought maybe the Three network alter the settings on their phones to make it awkward to use on another network. Anyone got any ideas? If I can't get it working I'll have to return it, and I don't have long to do so.

Thanks in advance!

Somebody knowledgeable about those carriers and that situation will chime in with some advice, I'm sure.

Meanwhile, I'd try going into the browser application management area and clear cache and clear data: menu > settings > applications > manage applications.

Your browser settings will all be removed.

I'd also make sure wifi was off, and the data roaming checkbox was cleared, etc.

Reboot (turn device off then back on, not a factory data reset), then start over with network configuration.

If no joy, I'd go ahead with the factory data reset: menu > privacy > factory data reset.

Incidentally, the menu paths on your device may be slightly different than the ones I'm providing using my Fascinate on 2.1.

Thanks for the advice. Strangely, it started working all by itself. I was messing about with it for ages and couldn't get it to work. Then, without me even changing anything, it was suddenly working :/
