Help with Tasker...

Honestly, I have no idea how to use this app. Is there a complete guide on this?

I dont know if it can do this but this are a few things that I want:

1. Turn Gps on(not navigation) when im leaving the house automatically. Just in case i loose it and i can go online and check where is at...

2.Turn wifi off when i leave the house....

this thing its super complicated...

You can also set up widgets you can toggle wifi and gps with so you can turn them on with one touch.

1. Turning GPS on whenever you leave the house, will RAPE your battery. Maybe just set it up so when you open MAPS, the GPS will turn on (since you don't need it in any other situation).
Context: Load App > Google Maps
Task: Auto-Start GPS

2.
Context: Location > Net (Uncheck\mark "GPS) and "Get Fix". Once your house is included in the radius, click "done"
Task: Net > WiFi > Set: On
Exit Task: Net > WiFi > Set: Off

These are the most basic ways to create these profiles... They can be much more elaborate, if you would like.

On the first one i just want gps on like the widget not the maps i dont use gps to drive...I just want it to turn on so if i loose my phone when im out the satellite tells me where its at...cn you help me do that?

Do you have a way of reaching the GPS on your phone?
There are simple apps, and other Tasker profiles that allow you to turn the GPS on with a text, then it will reply to that text with the phone's GPS coordinates that can then be plugged in to Google Maps.
I will post that profile once I get home...

Well the thing is, for tasker to know when you have left the house, your GPS will have to be turned on in the first place.

I would recommend creating a profile that turns GPS on if your phone recieves a text message containing a particular codeword that you set. So that if you lose your phone, you can text it from another phone with the message text 'Locate', for example, and your GPS will then be switched on, and you can go online and locate it.

To do this:
1. Open Tasker
2. Click 'New'
3. Type in 'Locate' or whatever you want to call the profile
4. Click 'OK'
5. Click 'Event'
6. Click 'Phone'
7. Click 'Revieve SMS'
8. Click in the message field
9. Type in 'Locate'
10. Click 'Done'
11. Click the plus sign
12. Click 'Misc'
13. Click 'GPS'
14. Change 'Off to 'On'
15. Click 'Done'
16. Click 'Done' again

As for the WiFi thing, i would recommend creating a profile that will turn your WiFi off when you turn the phone display off and turn it back on again when you turn your phone display on. This doubled my battery life so i highly recommend it.

To do this:
1. Turn on Tasker
2. Click 'New'
3. Type in 'Display Off - Wifi Off' or whatever you want to call the profile
4. Click 'OK'
5. Click 'Event'
6. Click 'Display'
7. Click 'Display off'
8. Click 'Done'
9. Click the plus sign
10. Click 'Net'
11. Click 'Wifi'
12. Click 'Done'
13. Click 'Done' again
14. Repeat the previous steps except call this profile 'Display On - Wifi On (Step 3), Choose 'Display On' instead of 'Display Off (Step 7), and select wifi to turn 'Off' instead of 'On' (Between step 11 and 12)

I hope this helps cause it took me a wee wile to type out. Tasker is the best Android app ive ever seen and if u learn to use it, you will definitely agree.

I know it can do a lot of cool things and i don't want to make threads of how to do them because then ill be spamming the whole forum so if there's a guide anywhere i would thank you forever..

Why don't you just leave the GPS on? It doesn't affect battery unless an application is actively using it.

For a wifi widget make a new task.
Name it Wifi
Choose Net: Wifi: Toggle

Done

Next on your home screen long press and choose to add a widget, choose task and choose Wifi for the task it executes. You may also wish to change the icon on the task itself. If you want a generic icon at all times just choose the lower right hand corner of the tasker menu that looks like 2 sheets of colored stickers and choose an icon from the built in icons. If you want a different icon to display when wifi is on than when it is off you will need to either make 3 different tasks, or set up a profile, I can give directions for either if you would like.
