Help with understanding Tasker

So I've heard alot about Tasker but what does this app do? It sounds like a lot of things but can someone be specific? I'm looking for a total package profile app. The Quick Profiles app has the ability to do a 10% volume on notifications and tones, I love that part of it but the rest of that app seems questionable to me as far as it not working all the time. Any help would be much appreciated.

It basically does what you want it to do. You create a bunch of If-Then statements with it.

So, for example, you can say "If I launch Angry Birds, turn the media volume down," or "If I'm within 400m of my home, turn wireless on; otherwise, turn it off," or "If I turn my phone over, make it go into silent mode," or "Between 8 AM and 5 PM, turn screen brightness to automatic; otherwise, make it 5% bright."

It's up to you to set it up the way you want it.

just out of curiosity, what on earth is the app. I have not heard about it so far, but it seems interesting.

I just described for you what it is. It's an app that gives you the ability to constantly run a bunch of if/then statements on your phone. It's called Tasker:

No...my Bionic is NOT rooted and I have over 20 prifiles set up. But from what I've read, if you are Rooted that you can do even more.

Do you need to know programing language or is it easy to use? Is there a place that has profiles already made to basically copy another profile that someone has written?
